yes, when your campaign manager is about to be sentenced to life in prison for only a portion of the charges filed against him. Perfect advantage for trump. the reason he is lying is he hopes for pardon and doesnt want Oligarchs to murder he and his family.

You have to look at the timeline to figure out what Mueller caught Manafort lying about.

Manafort's plea deal was based on if Manafort co-operated in the Russian collusion investigation. The plea deal has been revoked because of lying. Last month Mueller interviewed Manafort 12 times on Russian collusion over a month. That's what prompted the Roger Stone indictments.

One can surmise that Mueller found out some dirt on Trump that Manafort didn't admit. Why did Manafort lie?

That combined with new people close to Trump saying "very damning info" and Trump firing Sessions don't sound too good for Trump.
