too many songs recently are "balads", not enough up-beat songs. it may fit to the crowd she's appealing to. but. Sinéad O'Connor did the same thing: at first some upbeat (popular), did a bunch of ballads and dressed messier - and you didn't hear much about her (these days)

my opinion is ballads are popular with fans but a career steered to "only ballads" won't retain popularity with most fans
