I thought Obama was supposed to change world perceptions of the United States? I guess it never really mattered. France, busy with not helping the Haitians, is accusing the US of occupying the country. Despite Obama's record as an okkupier of Afghanistan and Iraq this wouldn't be so surprising, but give me a break.

Can someone explain what possible strategic value that Haiti would be to the US that we would want to occupy the country? Most of those poor folks live on a dollar a day (at least that is what the media says) - so why is it that we move our manufacturing industries all the way to China when we have a low cost labor pool just south of Florida?

+1, Exactly. The UN too, they like to bash us for taking initiative, meanwhile they just sit around promising the world. Their Secretary General was being given the third degree by some Haitians, but they were chanting "USA!" on the other side of town. They were cheering on our personnel who landed in downtown Port-au-Prince as well.

The U.S. made at least one air-drop so far which I know of, and it contained 14,000 MREs for the Haitians.

Wtf are the French and the UN Smurfs anyways? They were already in-country, and yet they don't do a damn thing but bitch about their own collapsed building. I bet you that we end up rescuing and resurrecting their entire Haitian HQ by our lonesome. Bunch of useless hags.

as far as ive heard, Haiti has no natural resources to take (including oil), thus why its a poor shithole.
