It usually happens around major holidays--Thanksgiving, Christmas....I have this dream where we're all together, usually sitting down to a big family dinner, and somehow, my grandma--who died seven years ago--is with us at the table, and I seem to be the only person there who realizes, 'hey, she's supposed to be dead'. Everyone else just acts normal, as if she never died. The thing is, I wasn't very close to my grandma.

You feel at least at on unconscious level, a degree of guilt for not having known your grandmum well and/or you want to reach out and get to know her more despite knowing she is dead.

You are subconsciously realizing that the only thing important in this world is the relationships that you have with others, while at the same time sensing the brief nature of life. It's not just grandma who's dead (and no one but you notices), but everyone at the table is already dead. Life is short.

I suspect the dream will get stronger and more persistent as you grow older.
