Trump Asks for $1.5 Trillion in US Government Spending
Posted by: Trump's TARP Plan ()
Date: January 31, 2018 11:34AM

President Donald Trump called on the U.S. Congress on Tuesday to pass legislation to stimulate at least $1.5 trillion in new infrastructure spending.

In his State of the Union speech to Congress, Trump offered no other details of the spending plan, such as how much federal money would go into it, but said it was time to address America's "crumbling infrastructure."

Libtards are too stooopid to know that number is mostly private-sector money through public-private partnerships (which Obama loved to talk about btw). Actual Federal money involved is less than $500 million.

Trump built a massive billion dollar casino with subcontractors he didn’t pay. Eventually it went bankrupt, stiffing even more people, and then it sold for 4 cents on the dollar. The man builds! A literal work animal!

Obama promotes public-private partnerships for highway funding
Politics Jul 17, 2014 2:57 PM EST
WILMINGTON, Del. — President Barack Obama announced a new program Thursday to attract more private money to help pay to build new roads, bridges and highways as he criticized Congress for refusing to approve a more lasting source of transportation funding.

The new program is designed to encourage collaboration between state and local governments and private-sector investors, expand the market for public-private partnerships and make greater use of federal credit programs.

Obama argued that the U.S. is losing its competitive edge to other countries that spend freely on infrastructure upgrades.

“First-class infrastructure attracts investment, and it creates first-class jobs,” Obama said at the Port of Wilmington, where the recently closed I-495 bridge served as the backdrop. The bridge was closed indefinitely last month after four support columns were found to be tilting, forcing 90,000 daily drivers to find another way through downtown Wilmington.

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate ReleaseJuly 17, 2014

Presidential Memorandum -- Expanding Public-Private Collaboration on Infrastructure Development and Financing
MEMORANDUM FOR THE HEADS OF EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES

SUBJECT: Expanding Public-Private Collaboration on Infrastructure Development and Financing

Cost-effective investment in our Nation's infrastructure is critical to creating jobs, expanding opportunity, fostering economic growth, and improving the global competitiveness of the United States. Many elements of the infrastructure sector are ripe for innovation, with new technologies and approaches promising significant gains in productivity, efficiency, and resilience. Despite the potential for growth and innovation, the United States is significantly underinvesting in both the maintenance of existing infrastructure and the development of new projects. We must use every tool at our disposal to lay the foundation for future prosperity and create new jobs, including better collaboration between the public and private sectors with respect to infrastructure development and financing in areas such as transportation, water, ports, energy, and broadband, among others. The Federal Government can play an important role in supporting, promoting, and expanding opportunities for public and private partners to work together on developing and financing infrastructure in these areas, thus increasing overall investment while safeguarding the environment and communities and improving project delivery.

Therefore, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America,
I hereby direct the following:

Obama Administration Announces $20 Million for 10 Public-Private Partnerships to Support American Manufacturing and Encourage Investment in the U.S.

OCTOBER 9, 2012

WASHINGTON — The Obama Administration today announced that 10 public-private partnerships across America will receive $20 million in total awards to help revitalize American manufacturing and encourage companies to invest in the United States.

The 10 partnerships were selected through the Advanced Manufacturing Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge, which is a competitive multi-agency grant process announced in May 2012 to support initiatives that strengthen advanced manufacturing at the local level. These public-private partnerships consist of small and large businesses, colleges, nonprofits and other local stakeholders that “cluster” in a particular area. The funds will help the winning clusters support local efforts to spur job creation through a variety of projects, including initiatives that connect innovative small suppliers with large companies, link research with the start-ups that can commercialize new ideas, and train workers with skills that firms need to capitalize on business opportunities.

The proposed Federal investment is only $200-$500 billion of that dummy. The rest is the private-side contribution.

And the article above is just announcing one smaller program. Obama proposed $302 billion for transportation project ventures alone in 2014. That doesn't count other proposed public-private partnerships related to Climate Change, etc., e.g.:

The 66 tolls and public-private partnership for expanding 66 were backed by McAuliffe stupid...

CENTREVILLE, Va. — Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe led a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday for the long-awaited multibillion dollar highway project that would expand I-66 to 10 lanes outside the Beltway — three regular lanes and two Express Lanes in each direction.

McAuliffe praised the public-private partnership, under which the private consortium Express Mobility Partners has been designated to design, build, operate and maintain the Express Lanes in exchange for the toll revenue over at least 50 years.

“We are now transforming the most congested area, the most congested road in the United States of America,” McAuliffe said. “We are taking a significant step today about moving more people, giving them more travel options so that they can go faster and more [reliably] on all different modes of transportation on I-66,” he said.

“Contrary to the continued political rhetoric of critics, I-66 inside the Beltway express lanes tolls have been based on sound planning and with the ultimate goal of improving travel for everyone,” [VA Secretary of Transportation Aubrey] Layne wrote in a statement. “We want to move more people, improve connectivity and provide additional travel choices. This is about unlocking gridlock on I-66 as Governor McAuliffe pledged.”

Deficit spending in the worst financial crisis since the depression (caused by 8 years of Bush who started with a SURPLUS from Clinton) is now equal to the spending of Republicans at a time of historic growth and low unemployment.

I have to largely agree with Rand Paul. Our government spends way too much on shit show studies and wasteful things.

1.5 trill. apparently would leave us with a 1 trill. deficit and we can no longer afford to go in that direction.

Get all the illegals out and there won't be as much wear and tear on our infrastructure.

Get able bodied people off of welfare and picking grapes or something and we won't have this freaking food stamp disaster ...
That's where you got to cut in the fucking budget. Entitlements needs to be changed.

Where is Trump getting the $1.5 Trillion from to pay for it? Certainly not from taxpayers because he just cut taxes?

The republican way, cut taxes, go on a spending spree, increase US debt, crash markets, remove regulations so companies can rape the environment.

What about all the highways being turned into toll roads. Trump wants to privatize Dulles Airport and turn GW Parkway into a toll road.

MCAuliffe turned 66 inside into a toll road. Said that it was a necessary and great idea. Public-private partnerships and all that. Did you whine then?

False. 66 is a Federal highway and the operations are a public-private partnership between the Feds, state, and private party which runs the toll system. As 66 outside also will operate as below. As does the 495 system.
As does the 95 system. As does the toll road. How revenue is divided among the various parties is independent of that. The 'Trump tolls' as you tards call them would work in EXACTLY the same way.

Federal loan secured for I-66 public-private partnership project

By Luz Lazo October 19, 2017

Virginia has secured a $1.2 billion federal loan for the construction of toll lanes on Interstate 66 outside the Capital Beltway, Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Thursday.

The low-interest loan allows the private consortium called I-66 Express Mobility Partners— a group of companies building, operating and maintaining the lanes— to secure the project’s financing package.

The cost for design, construction and right of way is estimated at $2.3 billion. State transportation officials say additional investments in the corridor, including transit improvements, raise the project’s price tag to $3.7 billion.

The expansion of I-66 spans 22.5 miles outside the Beltway. It will add high-occupancy toll (HOT) lanes from University Boulevard in Gainesville to the Beltway. In addition, there will be three general-purpose lanes in each direction, a multiuse trail in portion of the corridor, and new and expanded transit service, including additional park-and-ride lots, and median space reserved for future rail service.

There is no binding contractual agreement and the road is owned outright by the public. The tolls could be removed in 24 hours if NoVa's supervisors voted it so. Which they may in fact do soon.

You're a fucking idiot. It is EXACTLY the same type of public-private partnership that Obama and McAuliffe both supported. Zero difference other than in the specific details of who is doing exactly what and how in the case of the specific project. 66 is a FEDERAL HIGHWAY. Do you know what that means shit for brains? lol

There obviously is 'a contract' you stupid piece of dog shit. Actually two, one went to build the gantries and other equipment and one to operate the system.

I-66 toll contracts awarded, 1 nearly twice estimate

by Max Smith | @amaxsmith

June 14, 2016 6:07 pm

WASHINGTON — Plans to toll single drivers traveling on Interstate 66 inside the Capital Beltway during the rush hour moved much closer to reality Tuesday with the award of two major contracts, including one that was far higher than what the Virginia Department of Transportation had estimated...

The construction contract awarded by the Commonwealth Transportation Board for new electronic toll gantries and signs came in at $33.7 million, nearly twice the $17.5 million projection from VDOT...

Fort Myer Construction was one of two bidders for the project, and VDOT Director of Contracts Don Silies said the contract reflects “fair market value.”

The construction contract requires the installation of five toll gantries, shelters and high-tech sensors that a different company will use to manage toll prices and messaging. The contract also includes the installation of message signs that will tell single drivers the toll prices.

Single drivers traveling toward D.C. in the morning and toward Fairfax County in the afternoon will pay a toll to use the lanes.

The work is expected to begin by late summer with all construction completed no later than mid October 2017.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board also awarded a $27.6 million contract Tuesday to TransCore to set up, operate and maintain the toll system inside the Beltway for five years. There also is an option to extend the deal for five more years for $11.6 million.

But I thought that you said there was no contract you stupid fuck?

And that would depend on how exactly the contract is structured.

All contracts are 'binding contracts' you dumb motherfucker. That's the whole point of a fucking contract. lol

Quote

con·tract
noun

1. a written or spoken agreement, especially one concerning employment, sales, or tenancy, that is intended to be enforceable by law.

"both parties must sign employment contracts"

synonyms: agreement, commitment, arrangement, settlement, understanding, compact, covenant, bond;

verb
1. decrease in size, number, or range.
"glass contracts as it cools"

2. enter into a formal and legally binding agreement.
"the local authority will contract with a wide range of agencies to provide services"

synonyms: undertake, pledge, promise, covenant, commit oneself, engage, agree, enter an agreement, make a deal

And the fact is that Obama and McAuliffe both pushed for exactly the same type of public-private partnerships and specifically so for transportation projects:

Gov. McAuliffe Highlights Importance of Public-Private Partnerships at Arlington Conference

Partnerships between public agencies and private companies to build and maintain public infrastructure are the new reality and are more vital than ever, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said in signing a new transportation funding bill at George Mason University on Tuesday.

“The more we can get the business sector involved, the better off we’ll be,” he told an audience at Mason’s Arlington Campus.

President Obama Pushes Public-Private-Partnership Transportation Initiatives
Facebook Twitter Google+ LinkedIn
Obama Pushes PPP President Obama says he would encourage partnerships between state and local governments, and public and private developers and investors…

President Barack Obama delivered a speech in Wilmington, Delaware, July 17, using the recently-closed I-495 bridge as a backdrop, to apply additional pressure on Congress to pass a long-term surface transportation reauthorization bill. Touting the administration’s four-year, $302 billion proposal introduced this spring, he also said that he would sign a presidential memorandum to establish the Build America Investment Initiative. The program would offer expertise to state and local governments and investors looking to put together public-private partnerships to advance transportation projects. According to the president, the program would be paid for, “in part by closing loopholes for companies that are shipping profits overseas and are avoiding paying their fair share of taxes.”

As part of the plan, the administration is launching a Build America Transportation Investment Center to be housed in Department of Transportation. It is designed to serve as a one-stop-shop for state and local governments, public and private developers and investors seeking to utilize innovative finance strategies for transportation infrastructure projects.

The initiative includes a Build America Interagency Working Group to be co-chaired by the secretaries of Treasury and Transportation to do a focused review with the best and the brightest from the public and private sector to expand and increase private investment and collaboration in infrastructure.

Republicans would have called for impeachment and walked out of Congress. Trump said he was going to cut government spending but instead has done exactly what every Republican president has done; run the country into debt by cutting taxes and increasing spending.
