Last time West Virginia went Democrat without Perot on the ticket was 1988. Been about 50/50 until 2000.

except for the small panhandles WV is entirely mountainous with almost no urbanized areas or job centers. it's biggest city is smaller than reston. beautiful country but it's always ranked at the bottom for 'quality of life'. it's poor compared to everywhere else and has always been that way. Can't even really call it the rust belt because there wasn't much to rust in the first place. i'm not sure how trump thinks he can leverage them and get better ratings.

Coal companies, chemical companies, paid off politicians all making money off the health of the people who they have bent over the barrel. Many of these folks don't have the skills or ability to do anything else. That makes them prey for the for the assholes stated above. The young people leave the state in droves, further compounding the problem. Some of the finest individuals you will ever meet come from West Virginia. Walk a mile in a coal miner's boots one time before you judge them too harshly.
