There were 884 refugee claimants who crossed the border between formal crossings and were picked up by Royal Canadian Mounted Police last month, bringing the total for the first half of 2017 to 4,345, the data showed.

I am white, I am not stupid and I did not vote for The Donald. I did not vote for Clinton, either. I did not leave it blank, either. I guess that I miss the classification of "redneck". I am fine with that.
The parenthetical remark does not work. There are some types of Trump voters that I can understand. Chief among those is the voter who considered that a vote for Trump was the only way to stop Clinton. These people consider Trump the price for stopping Clinton, not the PRIZE. I must admit to a large degree of sympathy with them. Had Clinton won, this country would have been unrecognisable after only two years. That would have been a sure bet.
Despite all that, I could not bring myself to vote for him. I was not going to vote for Clinton, either.
Was the price that is Trump worth it to stop Clinton? That remains to be seen. To be sure, his Republican cohorts in Congress are not doing too much to help him out. It has turned into a real Klown Kar there. In fact, there are two Klown Karz at opposite ends of Pennsylvania Avenue. Can at least Congress get it together? One would hope so. The problem with both parties is that when each one wins, its leaders take the victory as a mandate to advance the party agenda. This is a constant and repeated misread of the electorate by the leaderships of both parties.
The electorate becomes tired of the failure of the party in power to do the job that it was elected to do. As a result, it votes out that party and votes in the other one in hopes that it will do the job it was elected to do. Of course, the electorate is disappointed. So, in vain hope for a change, it votes out that party and votes in the other one.
At this point, one m ight accuse the electorate of fitting a commonly accepted definition of insanity. Where said accusation fails is that the electorate has severely limited choices.
The party that finally understands what the electorate wants is the party that will retain its power. What the electorate wants is simple: govern properly. The last time that anything even remotely approaching that occurred was when Wm. J. Clinton was President. Even then, the faults were legion.
