I don't understand how the Germans and Japanese can afford to build their cars in the U.S. but American car companies can't. Its this culture of corruption and maximum profit and no national pride that Republicans are responsible for.

These are the 15 top producing car factories in the USA. Half of the top car factories in the U.S. are foreign car companies.

That's actually a good point.

I don't know why we can't.

South Carolina = Right to Work State (BMW & Mercedes)
Kentucky = Right to Work State (Toyota)
Tennessee = Right to Work State (Nissan & VW)
Alabama = Right to Work State (Mercedes & Hyundai)
Georgia = Right to work State (Kia)

Notice they don't locate in Michigan. Honda is in Ohio, which is a big union state, but they're also in Alabama.

Back in the 60s people were "nationalists", buying American was important to them; everyone sacrificed and came together during wwii and they were loyal Americans. Then inflation and energy crisis hit people in the wallet and the govt came up with emissions controls that caused US companies to totally redesign - lots of bugs resulted - led to people looking at japanese cars that were cheaper and they thought perhaps reliable. (Someone told me back then they weren't more reliable but their dealerships were better at fixing lemons and shutting up about it). Losing American mfg jobs, govt stepped in with incentives.

So Gerry, the "no national pride" started with the people, if you want to talk corruption D's are all over it, but yes perhaps Rs are responsible for focusing on profits.

Trump's Muslim Travel Ban would have kept Steve Job's from coming to America and starting Apple.

That's a Rolls Royce he is driving. Those vehicles are manufactured in Britain - a country with a Government controlled socialized medicine.

Just buying and driving that English made Rolls Royce means Trump supports stealing and exporting American auto manufacturing jobs from countries with minimum wage standards and universal healthcare.

Um, Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, CA. That's a city in the United States of America.
