Why can't the Democratic Party make any significant strides? They seem to have all the cards in their favor, yet look impotent. If the "Lets Nook Iran Now!" Republicans weren't such a joke maybe they could give these guys some competition. Something is seriously wrong.

Acquaintances living in the UK and France are very troubled by Obama's overt dissing of the people and country he was elected to serve as leader. They said this it totally unacceptable for a national leader and if their leaders did that they would have their walking papers handed to them when they returned.

I can't keep the story line straight. Before Obama was elected he was "the most liberal Senator." After he was elected the Republicans were crowing about how disappointed the liberals must be because he was appointing conservatives and continuing many of Shrub's policies. Somehow, the war that was started 8 years before he took office became "Obama's war." And now, after months of telling us that Obama is systematically destroying the country and dismantling our way of life you are now telling us that they aren't getting anything done? Can someone help me out?

The answer is rather simple...Democrats are a party of ideas..a variety of ideas. Republicans are a party of dogma...which they "all" march to:

Republican Dogma:

1. No new taxes
2. Get rid of old taxes
3. Life begins mat conception...abortion and all forms of birth control that may expunge a ferilized egg is abortion and should be outlawed.
4. The only reason for a centralized governemnt is defense.
5. "Drill baby drill" is the only energy policy this country needs.
6. America first...America only.

I would agree with you if the WTC was taken out by a recognized country of superpower significance rather than a handful of Arabs running around in the desert in their pajamas. The world much is greater than the sum of a quasi-organization known as Al-Queda or the Taliban. We were certainly viewed in a much better light by our fellow superpowers in the 80s under Reagan and 90s under Clinton than the 00s under Captain Crunch. It's important that we get back to this status before we lose our leverage.
