Everyone talk about the benefits the Union provides to Europe, but what could its breakup do to benefit the US? Is it our interests to see it crumble?

French politicians are openly calling for opening bilateral ties with Russia. Trump is turning Russia into a superpower again.

Nothing new. The French and Russian connection goes way back. Even during the cold war the French never considered us the "good guys" nor the Russians "bad guys". They are a traditionally socialist country and many viewed the soviets favorably. But then again so did some of our democrats, like Bernie Sanders and Red Kennedy. I realize you're new to politics and still like to categorize everyone by who you hate and who you support but the real world doesn't work that way.

Everyone all done ignoring Gerry's ravings again? Good. Let's proceed.
I remember thinking great, the EU will be a financial and military power so the US can step back. I was young.
Instead the EU went broke, fell apart and invited millions in who wish to kill them in some enlightened orgy of self-destruction. We can now look forward to facing enemies in future known as Islamic Europe.

It is the first inning on the EU and NATO issue. The French will not allow their nuclear arsenal to be repurposed for the EU, the EU will shudder in horror at the cost of creating a nuclear arsenal of defending themselves.
