I borrowed about $77.000 for my education. I made 65.000 in my first year of employment. My loans were paid off in less than 5 years. Borrowing that money was the best decision I ever made!

+1

The bad stories you will hear are people who got degrees for the stupidest things. Or people who are just socially inept and suck at interviews.

As UMUC pointed out most people get themselves into loan troubles by getting degrees that they can't do anything with later on. philosophy, literature, religious and gender studies are basically worth shit. That of course doesn't ring true if you went to a top public or private school. I have known lit majors that went to Yale, Harvard Etc. who got investment banking jobs starting at +70 K, but they are the exception to the rule. Law school can get you into deep shit financially as well.

There is a glut of lawyers in the job market, especially in this area and it doesn't make sense to cough up 200+ K for a law degree. You will likely be into debt well into your mid 40's and that's if you are lucky enough to even start out at a firm with 50 thousand entry level. This also is subject to the law school you go to. A person attending anything below a 2nd tier law school is likely going to be a shit lawyer who won't even be able to pass the bar exam. The only exception to this I have known is David Trinnes.

Hillary Clinton couldn't even pass the DC Bar exam.

Being called a "fucking faggot" is not a hate crime in the state of Virginia, as much as David would like Loudoun magistrates to believe that.

I was making $43k/yr. when I borrowed $90k to pay for my MBA (top ten school).

My first job out, I made $110k/yr. base comp.

12 years later, I'm making $265K/yr. base comp.

So, yeah, taking on the debt was TOTALLY worth it.

NO. Graduated in 1985 with $25K in loans. Most likely $100K today based on home sales. Hard to pay off years 2-3. It took ten years to pay off. Worked full time in a lab. Bartended to supplement. Job # 1 paid for Masters. Job # 2 Paid for PhD. Owned a home when single at 30 years old because of student loan history. Started a company in 1998. Now 75 employees. Best money I ever barrowed. But, I chose a STEM major….Hint, Hint…

Actually most of the bad stories come from people who couldn't make it through to graduation, or who had the misfortune to graduate around the time of the economic downturn when jobs were not available, or who pursued advanced degrees.

That's the right-tard narrative; insinuating that college education is somehow a bad thing, that younger people are just going there for "liberal indoctrination" and wasting their time and money. Fact is, college is waaaayyy more expensive than it was 15-20 years ago and it's no easier to find a career job right out of school than it was back then. So you have a lot of kids graduating nowadays with much more debt than they used to. The answer isn't "you should have picked a better major". There aren't thousands of unemployed "gender studies" majors out on the streets looking for a free handout from taxpayers. Starting adulthood with a $50-100 thousand bill over your head is a scary prospect, and things didn't used to be this way.

I think you're confused. College tuition hikes are the effect of liberal policies. Paying people like Killary Clinton at least $200k per speech is part of the problem. She made $1.8 million in 9 months from college speeches.

Federal funds have sky rocketed college tuition, why? Liberalism.

Just look what Obamacare did by taking competitive loans away from banks and doubling interest rates on student loans. Not one republican voted for that.

Average student loan debt is ~$25K, the same price as a car but a much better investment.

$100K, only an idiot would borrow that much for a degree.

Yes, actually there ARE thousands of gender studies, sociology, philosophy, history, and other worthless majors out on the streets.

If you dropped that kind of money for a worthless degree, then you deserve it. You should have taken a personal finance class along the way where you would have learned that you were an idiot.

OP -- Borrowing money to get off to an earlier career is way better than trying to pay your way through and being the "older guy" who applies to a professional job for the first time. Meanwhile others your own age will have more work experience already under their belts.
