Obama's pseudo-regular guy Beer Summit raises an interesting angle:
A responsible press would encourage Obama to smoke more and drink less.
Obama comes from two long lines of alcoholics: His father died driving drunk. His
half-brother David died driving drunk. His half-brother Roy was an alcoholic
before discovering teetotaling Islam and changing his name to Abongo. His
maternal grandfather Stan was a barfly.
Back during the Pennsylvania primary, Hillary was always gulping down
boilermakers, hoping (I imagine) to provoke Barack Jr. into responding in kind to
demonstrate his regular guyness and then going off on a Barack Sr.-style bender.
(Barack Sr.'s standing order at his favorite Nairobi bar was two double shots of
Jack Daniels as soon as he walked in the door.)
With that kind of genetic background combined with his stressful job, the
President should avoid drinking.
On the other hand, the President does need to self-medicate his fragile emotional
state right now, so let him do it with cigarettes. So what if he dies of lung
cancer at 75 rather than of something else at 85? We're paying him to be
President in his 40s.

I'm sure if you were having beers with the President of the US, getting drunk would be the last thing on your mind.
Look at the picture again, doesn't even look like the beers have been touched. Probably placed there by some White House photographer.

You'll notice in that picture the beer in front of Obama appears to be completely drained. Either that or its a pale ale and thus symbolically showing his wish for transparency. The Beer in front of Biden is full. The Beer in front of Crowley has been sipped at as he probably took a token slug. The beer in front of Gates is dark amber Hugh. Thats racist. The black man gets a darker beer than the other three?

I was glad to see Biden in that picture, as I think it would be a little unfair to sit the white guy down with the two black guys that just called him an idiot in front of the nation.

Actually I think they brought Biden so that Crowley wouldn't feel like he was the dumbest guy at the table. Had to make him feel more comfortable.

You'll notice in the photo that they are seated in staggered races (black, white, black, white) as to make the photo op not look like the blacks on one side and whites on the other.

There needs to be a nightly show where one person representing each ethnic group, not counting the host (maybe the host could have Downs), all discuss what they think is racist and what they don't think is racist and why.
Then maybe they poll the audience to see if they agree. Whatever that night's panel decided, gets recorded for future panels to discuss, maybe throw in a few skits... or even better, a "Race team hits the streets" segment.
It could be called "That's Racist!" or "Isn't That Racism?"... "So You Think You Know Racism?"... "Racism With the Stars"
We need a set of rules that don't have exceptions or double standards. Right now we're just going around in circles. Hopefully, it would keep silly shit out like this out of the news cycles. It may even open a safe, light-hearted, dialogue about race with your co-workers.
