Yes, OK, it’s election season and so we’re going to be treated to political rhetoric and a startling absence of decent economics. But Donald Trump’s claim that China is raping America is simply absurd and the claim must be treated as the nonsense that it is. China happens to be producing things that American consumers desire to have.

That’s as unlike the vile and foul crime of rape as it is possible to get. Being offered what you want at a price you wish to pay simply is not comparable to forced penetration: no, not even in the wilder reaches of election season political rhetoric and the wider economic nonsenses so often spouted in this season.

It's because Trump is a complete moron when it comes to dealing with trade. He obviously didn't learn shit about the effects of trade tariffs in history.

This just more government regulations ruining free trade and a free US market. Republicans always screw up US free markets.

In order to get access to their markets, we had to give up our IP and moved most of our tooling, even the tooling to make the tooling, and key technology so that they have access to everything and we have little to no capability to make much of anything anymore. They unfairly manipulated their currency and labor to completely capture markets on the back end. They bought up strategic resources. They instituted significant restrictions on companies selling into their own markets.

It's never been anything approaching a 'free market' other than that we were stupid enough to let them freely fuck us. So in that sense I suppose they are right as far as 'rape' in that we let them do it. Shit, we helped them do it. lol

Definitely has some advantages when the government coordinates and can completely control everything including its industry, markets, and labor force. Unfortunately, that typically doesn't work out real well for the latter.
