Apparently they don't teach history in school anymore. "Arms for hostages" was coined during Iran Contra under Reagan. It had nothing to do with Iranian hostages. Ollie North got Israel to sell arms to Iran in the hopes Iran would persuade Hezbollah to release American hostages in Lebanon. The proceeds were then used to buy arms for Contras in Central America.
