What's the best way to get rid of a woodpecker? Every morning it wakes me up at an unGodly hour with it's wretched feeding on my house.

Are you sure the woodpecker isn't Furfur/Vince/Oaktonmom/Alias/Kenny Powers, etc etc?

I'd leave the woodpecker alone if I was you. He's actually doing you some good, he's trying to tell you've got a woodpecker all you can eat buffet somewhere in your house, where he is a knockin' you've got insects. Termites, carpenter ants, etc. Get rid of the insects and he'll go away.

Spunky, several of my costumers have me hang prism tape on the side of the house where the woodpecker is doing the damage That is the only thing that seems to work.
I cut them in 2 foot lengths and use thumb tacks to put them on the house. I hope this helps

Bork, doesn't the winter kill the insects? I have carpenter bees.

Anyone you recommend to handle the insects or can I ?

Odds are the woodpecker isn't feeding. During mating season, woodpeckers usually tap on hollow logs to attract females. If there aren't hollow logs around, they like to tap on the metal covers on chimneys, which is very loud. If that is what the woodpecker is doing, chances are he will stop in a couple of weeks once mating is over.

Spunky, you can buy one of these for a few hundred dollars on the black market. Woodpeckers will think twice about messing with your house.
