Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Took in many famous cities, visited all the famous sites, the monuments, the castles, the cathedrals, ancient roman ruins, museums - enjoyed the history, the art, the food, the culture, visited the wineries, etc.
Was really impressed by all that stuff, it was a great learning experience.
What really struck me dumb with complete jaw dropping disbelief - The plague of Narcissism that has taken over our entire world.
Everywhere I went there were literally hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world taking selfies in front of famous places or works of art.
Does anyone else find it deeply disturbing that we have an entire generation of self-consumed FaceBook "look at me" narcissists taking over the world?
The only time you ever see yourself is through reflection or photos. While the selfie sticks look a little silly, I don't see why the act is a bad thing.
Do you honestly believe that if people 100 years ago had this capability, that they wouldn't do the same thing?
People have always wanted to have their picture taken near famous landmarks, but there was no one to do it for them and even harder to find someone who had a camera and knew how to use it.
