I've met Karen a few times socially (she was seeing a friend of mine a while back.) She's definitely good people, and smart. She's not some token or Uncle Tom.

I have no doubt that at least 25% of the slaves freed by the Emancipation Proclamation would have preferred to remain enslaved.

Most slaves actually stayed with their former owners as hired hands around the farms, took their masters surnames (of course) and they were at peace doing so.

You know the Emancipation Proclamation only applied to the South? The 13th Amendment abolished slavery nationwide in 1865, 4 years after the Civil War started. The North was free to own slaves, and did, all that time. Perhaps it's the Union Flag that should be banned.
