Korny Gone from MNF

Tony Kornheiser is gone from Monday Night Football. Kornheiser is saying he chose to quit because of the air travel involved, but let's be honest. The guy sucked. He was hardly the second coming of Cosell, as had been predicted.

The bad thing is he is being replaced by Jon Gruden. ESPN is even touting Gruden's quotes as "great." Here are some examples of his "great" banter...

What an impending disaster this is going to be. You got guys like Deon Sanders and Shannon Sharpe out there and they opt for Gruden???

Thank God. I can't stand Kornhole. Maybe they should put Emmit "Wordsmith" Smith on there so he can talk about the defense "carousing" the ball carrier.

God, he's bad. But seriously, Gruden is going to bore the shit out of people. WTF is the brain trust at MNF thinking of? Someone like Deon or Sharpe would make that show. I guess all of these football shows have a "one black per show" quota and Terrico has it sewn up for MNF.

uuuhg the epitome of bad quotes was when a QB completed a pass to a player named Jared. Kornhieser said all mock homo like "he went to Jared" mocking the commercial. BARF

Kornheiser really is bad. Peyton Manning would complete a 20 yard pass to Marvin Harrison and Kornheiser would say something like, "Marvin Harrison really is a great receiver, isn't he?"


NO, FUCKING, SHIT, SHERLOCK!!! The guy is headed for Canton and Kornheiser is acting like he is educating the viewing public to the fact that Harrison is a great fucking receiver.

What MNF is lacking is color commentary. You have Terrico for the play-by-play and "Jaws" for stats and to talk about what is going to happen next. You need someone like Deon or Sharpe to throw some flare in there once in a while. Someone to say something funny. Kornheiser was totally fucking lost in that role, as will be Gruden.

"Korny" was decent on MNF.. he did seem a little lost sometimes and i think he knew it.

I love him on PTI he is great and from the Washington D.C area. Great sports figure from the past 50 years. He sure is getting up there in age though!

Sterling Sharpe is pretty good, but Shannon Sharpe is an idiot. He couldn't utter a sentence without sounding like Mushmouth on Fat Albert. He's not funny or bright and neither are any of the other numbskulls on CBS Sports (see Dan Marino).

My question is, do they really need 3 people to do MNF?

Shannon Sharpe would be good on MNF precisely because he sounds like an idiot. It would actually help with the booth commentary, especially during those typical Monday Night Games when you have the Colts playing the Raiders or the Patriots playing the Rams and it is fucking ponderous.

Do you need three guys in the booth? Probably not. But you can't have Terrico and Jaws as the two-man booth. Terrico is way too dry for that.

I'm just pointing out to the poster that other Super Bowl-winners are on TV doing this stuff, so Gruden is nothing special.
