"The Naked and the Dead" was abysmal. Lots of "stars" preening and trying to do a "serious" role...not to mention that the japs were portrayed as childlike, attuned to nature, and essentially harmless...

I liked the movie, but don't place it up there with the best because it irritates me to no ends when I see it and the German tanks are actually a US made M48 Patton. I appreciate more recent movies because they actually strive to have authenticity in the vehicles used. Like an above post, Fury did it right. I dug that movie.

well if you want most real movie you can get the stars and stripes footage

best war movie: Westerns ... range and indian wars. fantasized, music indiginous of the West and time period , musicals , stoic , ...

i don't think you'll find many war movies that are musicals , fantasized , and entertaining to watch that revolve around (war / survival in the field)

maybe the three musketeers was that a hit movie ?
