Hot Coffee Lost Job

So I always try to get some feedback from posters on the FU, because they are some of the smartest people I know. Well actually the only people I can relate to since I lost my job a couple of years ago.

Anyway, I have been living off of the government's teat for last couple of years, and at the same time trying to find a job. Now the kind of work I have been looking for isn't found easily mainly because of the experience level and the salary level I am accustomed to.

So anyway before I go to a lawyer, I wanted some educated opinion fro the posters here on FU.

I finally received and accepted an offer for employment that was suitable for me. I was invited to have a "business" breakfast with the COO Jeffrey, to go over some of the ideas I brought up during the hiring process, and we met at Peeetz Coffee.

Well we purchased our food and coffees and sat down at one the outdoor tables. As an aside, I have to say they really don't have much of a choice for breakfast sandwiches, but it was near the office.

So right after I had taken a healthy bite from the breakfast sandwich, Jeffrey asked a business question. As my mouth was full I tried to hurry through the process of emptying my mouth so that I could answer. I lifted my cup to aid in the process thus gesturing to Jeffrey that I was readying myself to respond. I took a good size portion of coffee and immediately realized that the liquid was super hot. My immediate reaction was to expell what was in my mouth. Unfortunately the coffee and the breakfast sandwich ended up on the COO's white shirt.

Naturally, I immediately apologized. Jeffrey seemed quite upset. I told him I would be glad to pay for the dry cleaning. He said it wouldn't be necessary, and that he a clean shirt at the office, and that we should get back to office at that point.

I spent the rest of the morning and becoming acquainted with my office and going over my duties with one of the VP's. Kind of stuff you expect on a first day.

Later that evening I found a message letting me know that the company was going in a different direction. I lost my new job!

So looonngg story short, what are my chances of successfully suing Peeetz, not because of bodilly injury, but because they cost me my job over the hot coffee.

Thanks in advance for you thoughtful recommendations.
