It's not Mexican Independence Day and not even really celebrated in Mexico.
It's a 'holiday' that was promoted by the San Antonio-based beer importer for Corona and Grupo Modelo as a marketing deal to sell beer to Mexican Americans.
Another fun fact, more beer is sold on Cinco de Mayo than for the Superbowl weekend or St. Patrick's Day.
