Boehner Blocks $2000 Tax Cut for Middle Class

http://www.politicususa.com/2015/01/12/john-boehner-screws-american-people-blocking-2000-middle-class-tax-cut.html

House Democrats introduced a new proposal that would give middle class families a $2,000 tax cut that was immediately shot down by Speaker Of The House John Boehner, because Republicans have no interest in helping the middle class.

What this statement meant in terms of legislative action is that Speaker Boehner is not going to allow the Democratic proposal to be brought to the House floor for a vote. Throughout his time as Speaker, John Boehner has killed legislation that he opposes by not allowing it to come to the floor for a vote.

Boehner’s position that tax cuts add to the deficit apparently only applies to tax cuts for the middle class because it was only last month that Speaker Boehner supported a $440 billion tax cut for corporations. John Boehner is fond of referring to the House as the People’s House, but it clear that the people the Speaker is referring to aren’t working folks or middle class Americans.

By the People’s House, Speaker Boehner means the Koch brothers, corporations, or other special interests. If Republicans were serious about governing, they would seize the opportunity to pass a middle-class tax cut that Democrats would support and the president would sign. Instead, Republicans are using their power in Congress to harm the middle class while claiming to be carrying out the will of the people.

A middle-class tax cut would put money back into the pockets of those who need it most while providing a boost to the economy. Boehner’s rejection of the Democratic proposal is another reminder that the Republican Party doesn’t care about ordinary hard working Americans,

Lets be honest the most underrepresented population is the middle class. Rich control everything while its a give-away to the poor to keep up appearances. No one votes so that is the way it will stay

They were able to easily pass more taxpayer funded bailouts and insurance to risky big bank bets straddled to the budget but cant pass tax cuts for the middle class.

Its a class war and Republican goobers are tools.

Dumb slanted article.

It was a bs proposal with no chance of passing with either side which was submitted by Van Hollen as a political talking point only.

On Monday, one of the leading Democratic policy-makers in the House, Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, offered a new and more aggressive economic blueprint that may well become a rallying point for the party in 2016. The headline proposal is a $1.2 trillion package of tax cuts for middle-income earners, including a $1,000 "paycheck bonus credit" for individual making less than $200,000 a year, and twice that amount for couples.

Van Hollen, who is the top Democrat on the Budget Committee, would also expand the earned income tax credit and the child care tax credit, along with offering an even bigger break for people who devoted a portion of their tax credit to retirement savings. Additionally, the plan would try to prod CEOs to give their employees raises by changing the rules for companies that claim deductions for executive pay.

Ummm, all pay is 'deductible' as costs. Including those of workers and management.

And the Atlantic forgot to mention...

WASHINGTON -- House Democrats on Monday unveiled a plan to cut taxes for middle-class families that would be paid for in part by a new tax on Wall Street trading.

The proposal, laid out by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the top-ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee, represents a significant shift in economic policy and political messaging. In a speech at the Center for American Progress on Monday, Van Hollen not only sharply criticized competing Republican budget plans, but also broke with the Obama administration by pressing for a tax on financial transactions that both Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner have rejected.

Which is how he plans to pay for this fantasy plan.

The cost of which btw, as always, would just be passed along to the bulk of people in another form.
