Petes Park-N-Eat in Opal Closed forever.

Good old Pete's Park n eat is no more. Lots of UVA and Longwood kids would stop at Pete's on their way to school and plenty of gun guys who shot at Clark brothers would get ice cream or pizza there. I guess It's just another roadside icon to bite the dust. Sad.

Used to stop there often after shooting up Clark Bros. range. Will be missed.

I'm sure those people own the lot since they've been there since long before the intersection improvements. Why stay open when you can lease the lot? Sheetz probably pays $250k or more a year for their land lease. Easy money.

Classic greasy spoon joint. The food was tasty but certainly not healthy.

Funny story: I lived near there many years ago. It used to be the only place in that area to get a pizza. Went to pick up a pie once to take to a pool party. As I was driving to the party I had to make a quick stop due to some dickwad in front of me slamming on the brakes because he missed his turn. The pizza was in the front seat. The box didnt slide off the seat but when I opened it to check the pizza all the cheese and toppings had slid right off the crust and was mashed up in the corner of the box. Left on top of the crust was a glistening pool of grease. Yummy!

The flyover they built there for southbound 17 traffic is a great example of a multimillion dollar bungle by VDOT. What a fail!!

The flyover is helping more as time goes on but many travelers do not update their GPS software and they still get confused there. Pete's land became too valuable now that the Opal gateway project has been approved. It wont be long before all those businesses including Clark Brothers are razed.

The original VDOT plan was for a service road to be built on the south bound side of 29 to access Clarks and Petes. Not sure what's going to happen now, but I'm sure Petes will get bulldozed. I doubt anything will happen to Clarks. That place has a booming business (pun intended).

It's kind of a cool building if your into 50'-60's architecture. The food was horrible if you had any designs on living a long life. I imagine most people who were regulars there died before their 50th birthday.

Yeah the burgers were greasy and the soft serve cones as well as the real dairy milkshakes were to die for. Great place to eat about five times a year. Eat there every day and die young. I will miss that place. Mcdonalds is going to move to the gateway center but not sure what Clark brothers will do. A campground, new truckstop and two motels are going in plus a bunch of retail.

They had the best pizza, real pizza that would put any New York city joint to shame.

Clark Brothers plans to move to a much larger facility in Culpeper. They plan to have a gun store in the new gateway shopping center but the firing range has to be relocated. It will be bigger and better but further away. I wonder how much lead is in the ground at the current location? Two years from now there will be a Hampton inn parking lot on that site.

Fuck Clark Brothers - Overpriced, unfriendly service, there are better places to go for gun needs.

Try gunbroker.com

I agree Clarks is overpriced but you can't complain about the people who work there. Very friendly and knowledgeable....unless YOU are an asshole. Then they will make sure to exploit you.

Have you ever purchased a gun from Gunbroker.com? I doubt it. You don't just point and click and get a gun delivered to your front door. You still have to go through someone with a FFL to complete the purchase. Can take weeks. I don't know about you but when I buy a gun I like to be able to handle it first.

Green Top has better prices but it's a 4 hour round trip for me.
