MADE IN USA - GOT ONE OF THESE AT A GARAGE SALE (perhaps german made lense perhaps not*) - obviously before CLINTON-OBAMA-BIDEN. i used a truly certified solar filter i bought (actually i make-shifted one from welding equipment but only a mature student should attempt it - it requires proper placement and such) (germany used to make things - they no longer do - they are the bitch of china worse than usa)

the below is roughtly what i saw through an amateur telescope. it was a little less defined perhaps but certainly live and moving bright dark regions with a definite boundary, with the amateur scope

amateur telescopes do great on the moon - ok on the sun if you bother to order the filter

they aren't good for stars - those are too far away to make brighter or larger

this is a solar filter. it goes IN FRONT of the main axis on the large hole. it's made of optical glass and you can't see through it unless something very bright is on the other side (if that's not true: DON'T USE IT). it prevents the inside lens from MELTING and obviosly your eyes from melting also.

that's up in price they used to be cheaper but they were never "cheap". the lenses you got with your TASCO AMATEUR were good for the moon. getting some "good lenses" were hundreds extra.

if you buy lenses from china you'll make a 1980's TASCO worse, not better. (the fine lenses are the small ones - they are the important ones)

France was also big in telescope making had some good brands - continued in the AMATEUR business longer than TASCO did.

it's all made in china now - it all requires "wifi connection" and drivers that fail next upgrde

you'd think this lense is the most expensive but it's not. replacing it does cost most of the price of a TASCO amateur telescope new however. the shell is of course, just painted metal
