Covid testing question

I have a friend who works in genetics, the testing is free and when u want, like after you traveled or been out to eat, or whenever, this test requires you to spit in a cup, but u must fill the cup with a lot of spit about an inch high.
If covid is so contagious, why would you need so much spit to check for the virus?

I don't think it's true. Besides, it is unlikely that a vaccine will be created although everything is possible. Personally, I won't take it until I am sure it's safe. Speaking about covid, how do you boost the immunity system? I try to keep a healthy lifestyle and take vitamins. Is it enough? By the way, I always buy all the meds at Canadian Pharmacy, it's a reliable online pharmacy.
