Wow, you pretty much described this guy to a tee.
He had a degree in English but was somehow able to land a job as a senior systems engineer. He talked a good game and was able to justify working 20-30 hours overtime. When he left for a different company, we saw how little we needed him.

Here is a pet peeve for ya...people that who consider places like Five Guys a "restaurant". It's a burger joint. Fast food. Rule of thumb: if you're standing while giving your order you're not in a restaurant. This includes Fosters as you have to circle what you want thre which is really only one step above the inevitable future of American society - point to the picture of what you want.

I consider it to be a restaurant, but I get your point. It's sort of a pet peeve of mine when people want to meet up for lunch and then suggest a place like Five Guys, Chipotle, or god-forbid, Subway. Those are fine if you want a quick lunch break from work, but seem really stupid when you plan a meal with someone.
And FWIW, I like Fosters alot and like their ordering system.
