If you're Dodge, why the fuck would you bring back the Dart name? That was a horrible, horrible car...even the hi-po trim level Dodge Dart Swingers. Nobody is going to buy one of these new Darts because of positive vibes associated with their gen-1 Darts.

Detroit ran out of names years ago. They are forced to recycle names because trademarking a new name is impossible. It would require years of market research.

The people who find Will Ferrell movies funny are the same people who laugh at this shit.

It is an interesting dynamic the whole then and now thing. There are some really quick cars being made these days with little tiny hi-rev motors in them. They can get a hole shot but don't have the top end of the Detroit powered machines. They are better on gas milage for everyday drivers and are the younger generations version of "fast" cars. I'd like to see a quater mile drag race between a 2.0L Tigershark powered Dart and a older version with V-8 power. Take your pick of any of the V-8s offered through the years. Time was Mopar was the fastest of the fast eating chevys and fords for breacfast. Real red neck mobiles!

Dodge has put out nothing but shit for the last 3 decades. Only nigs buy dodge cars anymore. They should just make 1 sedan model that comes in fruit drink colors with stock 22" chrome rims on it. BAM nig market cornered, and Dodge #1 US seller overnight.

I still think the webuyanycar.com commercial is the most annoying: Nothing much to say, so they say it with a room full of people acting like someone has injected the room with a dozen yellow jacket nests.

I'm amazed they made a black guy look like an idiot. Pay attention tonight when you're watch tv. Commercials almost never make women, asians, latinos, or blacks look bad. 99% of the time, it's the white guy who looks like an idiot.

I'm an auto writer/reviewer. Those here who are panning the original Dodge Darts are, frankly, full of s***. The original Darts of the 1960s/70s, despite having ho-hum bodywork, brakes, and hardware, had one of the most durable 6-cylinder engine/automatic transmission combinations ever made.....hence their great popuarity (along with other Chrysler products with the dame drivetrain) as taxicabs.

1974 was a shitty year for ALL autos made. Dude is right about the slant six. Had several and they just would not die. I'm sure that the 74 that clocked 16.5 was modded. Maybe 340 over bored with a cam? Who knows... 440 and 3 deuces would jump as will a 340 when the car is light enough. 383 could produce some horse power if done right. The 426 hemi was a monster. I'm sure the newer motors are quick but there's no top end. Of course if you are handy with a wrench and mechanically inclined you can put a 454 in a vega and they will turn 6s and old = shit speed is a generational thing. what I was raised with means nothing to your generation as your version what it takes to go fast I would have no part of. Just the way it is. I've always loved watching "Pinks all Out when some young kid goes up against grand-pa in his hopped up Chevelle. Always entertaining.

Who would be stupid enough to buy a new Dodge Dart? I rented one for a 5 day road trip and I thought it was pretty below average. The Dart I rented had 2600 miles on it the fit and finish of the dash was really bad, the tranny jumped between gears with a jolt and the seating was uncomfortable on long trips. If someone was looking for a car in this price range they could do ten times better with a carrola or a civic.
