Do people here harass each other until they commit suicide?

unfortunately no one here has yet to commit suicide or at least that we know. some seem to just fall off the face of the earth so you have to wonder.

I mentioned a long time ago I used to post on this message board where a guy killed himself. The website was still on his computer screen and the family blamed the posters for his death. The board was shut down like two weeks later.

The problem is, you only commit suicide when you're convinced that no one cares about you. On Fairfax Underground, however, you can always find someone to care about you.

Sure, it'll likely be mockery, vitriol and hatred, but it will be a response. Someone will always respond, which proves that someone cares, because if they didn't care, they would ignore you. On Fairfax Underground, someone always cares at least enough to tell you to take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.

That's why FFXU's body count is zero, and will remain so.

So, basically, FfxU is a public service that *saves* lives?

The only person that has ever felt bullied on this site is Chuck Hoffmann, but that was his own doing.

Absolutely. eesh's reaction to Mr. Misery is a prime example.

Mr. Misery is a lonely sad sack with limited social interaction in his real life. However, eesh happily (and with almost Pavlovian predictability) responds to every inanity and ridiculous post Mr. Misery makes, thus affirming Mr. Misery's existence and encouraging him to newer heights of his unusual brand of comedy.

Additionally, eesh has spent many, many hours of his life in research trying to establish Mr. Misery's true identity. Why would he do this unless he cared who Mr. Misery was and what Mr. Misery was doing?

If eesh didn't care about Mr. Misery, he would ignore him.

Chuck, have you ever been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? The reason I ask is that I read Bradley/Chelsea Manning was a FAS baby, as evidenced by his facial features and height. You also have similar features, especially in the eyes and stunted height. It could also explain why your daughter is disabled herself, her father was genetically mutated.

In some sense, yes it is. For some people this is the only place where they can interact with other humans and be themselves. For others it's an outlet to let anger and devious thoughts out in the open, whereas without this site, one may hold in these thoughts and explode.

For all of those who have been bullied or outed the last thing they want to do is kill themselves so that they can further be mocked, don't you think? Although they will be dead and not know about it, I still think it's a huge deterrent.

Suicides go to Hell. It's where Mr. Misery and Harry Tuttle are going for being sex offenders, and Chuck Hoffmann is going for being a bad father.

I disagree that the stalking and bullying is because one poster aspires to live the life of another. The purpose of this behavior in this instance is to frighten or embarrass the target to such an extent that he abandons Fairfax Underground forever, or to anger them to such an extent that they say something to embarrass themselves.

This creates the paradox of Fairfax Underground, which I call the Turing tar baby. If you remember the story of Br'er Rabbit and the tar baby, you know that the more Br'er Rabbit struggled with the tar baby, the more firmly trapped he was in the sticky tar.

Similarly, once one has been ensnared in the Turing tar baby of Fairfax Underground, one cannot leave, because forcing someone to stop posting and abandon Fairfax Underground is the specific goal and intent of the stalking and bullying. Similarly, responding to the criticism and outright libel further empowers the stalker and bully, encouraging him to increase and ramp up his efforts.

The only solution is to continue posting, but studiously and scrupulously ignore the bullying and stalking. This serves to remind the bully and stalker that you're still here, you're still posting, and that their efforts are impotent and ultimately wasted.
