With today's wages the poor cannot afford to drive an old truck the repairs are unfathomable - ie a trans rebuild kit a dealer won't even sell you they will say "must be factory rebuilt $$$$", and the number of parts is millions of incompatible parts - it's becoming more and more unlikely a producer will decide to GAMBLE on making one of millions of spare parts consumers less often have the money to order: the part databases are overloaded with millions of incompatible parts and: CONTAIN CHINESE LIES (you order, it's from china, and it DOESN'T fit and the chinese won't take it back).

EV (electric vehicles) are FAR WORSE. The battery weights a TON and costs as much as a used car. They are difficult to replace. The electronics are intertwined in a "badly moulded body" making repairs practically insane. The electronics are NEVER MADE THE SAME WAY TWICE, and "obsoleted", making repair actually impossible for a consumer and perhaps even dealers. Chinese electronics never get repeated they strategically always change so that only newer models "are allowed to be used". Sometimes replacement parts for electronics aren't available even upon purchase of a new car. Call and ask about various of the 100's of EV boards in a car before you buy: you'll find many were not and are not for sale. The repair manuals LIE.
