PURCELLVILE, VA — A Starbucks customer was charged with exposing himself to employees at a drive-thru Starbucks in Purcellville, according to the town police department.
Last Friday morning, a customer in the Starbucks drive-thru in the Purcellville Gateway Shopping Center exposed himself while accepting his order. The customer, identified by the police as Joseph McKelpin, 39, of Round Hill, was the same suspect in two prior incidents on Nov. 7 and Nov. 22, the Purcellville Police Department said Friday in an incident report.
A Starbucks employee taking McKelpin's order on Nov. 27 "recognized its unique nature as the suspect ordered the same thing during the prior incidents," the police said.
The Starbucks staff had cameras ready and as the suspect pulled up to the window, they noted that he was exposing his genitalia, according to the police. He collected his order and left.
A Purcellville police officer, using the customer's license plate, was able to track the man's vehicle to a residence in Round Hill. A deputy from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Officer located the vehicle.
The Purcellville officer responded and spoke to McKelpin, who admitted to being at the Starbucks, but denied exposing himself, the police said.
Warrants were obtained for all three incidents and McKelpin was arrested and charged with indecent exposure, the police said. He was released on an unsecured bond.
