Do Dems really want to pay down the deficit?

WASHINGTON - About 400 of America's largest corporations paid an average federal tax rate of about 11% on their profits last year, roughly half the official rate established under President Donald Trump's 2017 tax law, according to a report released Monday.

The 2017 tax law lowered the U.S. corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%, but in practice large companies often pay far less than that because of deductions, tax breaks and other loopholes.

The report also found that 91 corporations in the Fortune 500, many worth billions of dollars, paid no federal taxes last year.

So my thought is this. If Democrats are concerned about the deficit, then they should run a platform for the 2020 election of changing the tax laws to force the largest corporations to pay taxes. These corporations are paying nothing into the system. So Democrat candidates should all make it clear that they will eliminate all loopholes and force companies to pay taxes and, in addition, force all the rich CEOs to pay taxes on the company ownership since many of them escape taxes by not taking a salary.

What do you think? If you want to pay down the national debt/deficit, this would help.
