I would call this a beginning of "robot wars" like some episode of star trek.
But really: drones are just slow MISSILES. self driving cars are slow moving but VERY powerful slow moving drones
(if china were to control 100 million us drone car missiles from satellite by Huawei 5G - they could attack USA at any time with 100 ground to ground missiles - harassing or decimating USA's bridges, power, other heavy infrastructure in minutes causing massive havoc that WE PAID FOR NOT THEM)
(or Huawei 5G could offer auto insurance in the USA - and make sure their "agent families" were hit by drones and profited heavily in court)
(or Huawei 5G could enter a contract with police to create "arrest-able situations" and insure police arrested the car's occupants)
putting your life in the hands of a robot missle controlled by satellite in another country?? you have to hate your children to invest in that.

the only reason this does not parlay into global dominance is they are met by others with equal skills and weapons

drones are slow - have big wings, they save fuel but are "easy" targets (per say - it forces the opponent to do ALLOT to swat down those "easy targets")
for that reason they are valued for reconnaissance or in areas the enemy has simply no defenses readily available to swat down (perhaps MANY) slow moving air craft
