You are correct; however, gender is not sex and sex is a matter of biology, which is a form of science and thus immutable.

You can refer to a person's masculine and feminine characteristics and those characteristics can exist in symbiosis. It does not change the person's sex. A male is a male no matter how feminine his appearance or actions.

And I should add...like bigotry, denying science is a form of ignorance.
