I feel the genre has pretty much died over the last 10 years or so. Back in the day I used to listen to bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Orgy, Nine inch nails, System of a Down and Rammstein. I remember people used to fucking riot during these concerts, kids nowadays don't even know what a mosh pit is. What happened to metal? I blame Nickelback and Creed.

I would also blame limp biscuit and korn, just as bad as creed. Rammstein and NiN not metal bands, so they are absolved of blame.

nu metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal. I agree they do take some of the blame. They succumbed to record companies to collaborate with pop groups. Same thing that is happening to hip-hop and rap.

My friend, no. Check out Sweden(Opeth) and Norway's (amon amarth) metal scene. Metal is better than ever. Not too many good domestic bands but there are a few(November's doom, nevermore). Italy (novembre), too. There's still good metal. You just have to look for it

Lacuna Coil and in fact Opeth have played ozz fest. That kind of makes some "mainstream" metal cool. I disagree. This was a shit year except for the metal scene. Alot of good music there recently

Piss Fountain is a decent metal band out of Herndon. They were big in the early 2000's and when I say big I mean like playing Nations in DC and shit. Last I saw they played Jaxx

Rock is dead, all monkey music these days.
Where I live there isnt one modern rock station anymore. We have about 3 rock stations, one is like a retarded old metal and classic rock mix that only has a range of 20 miles and the station plays shitty rock, then classic rock, shit from far back as 50 yrs so that sucks, then another out of my range. Not one station introducing any new modern rock bands.
I think things are changing though, I think alot are getting tired of horrible anti white, horrible lyrics, of bustin caps and bitches from behind..etc.
Years ago kids tried figuring out real poetry, now they learn that jacking, hoin, pimpin...tappin dat ass, and gang bangin is the way to go, instead of learning poetry

An unfortunate series of hair-bands, then grunge, followed by nu-metal took its toll. But there's still tons of great metal out there. Whether you like death, doom, black, grind, gore, thrash, sludge, stoner. You can find most anything on youtube these days.

METAL used to be a favorite / the go to for people working in metal shops and maybe auto shops.
in the 80's fairfax had many machine shops that made products

at least in fairfax, most "party'ers" partied ONLY on the weekend and were proud workers (who were threatened they would die of starvation if they didn't have a job btw - good "inspiration")
