There is no rule you have to use the bible. Presidents have been sworn in on a church misslelette, a law book, the constitution.

You can use the Quaran as several in congress have done. The Library of Congress provides Thomas Jefferson's personal Quoran for the occassion if asked.

Technically you can use a Superman comic, a cook book, Maxim magazine, Satanic bible, a Meade Skelton cd, or Darwin's On The Origin of Species if you wish.
