Trump has mentioned that most Fed workers agree with him that America needs a border wall. Trump alluded to that he would use the money saved during the shut down to build the wall. Behind the scenes Trump is trying to make sure furloughed Fed workers do not get paid and that their paychecks be used to pay for the wall.

i am a fed who supports Trump albeit my agency is fully funded like 75% of the agencies are

1. Trump should not shut down government unless he is willing to go all the way
2. Trump should have done this years ago

Trump will get a shitty face saving deal and he will pay back workers because all of this is about getting reelected and he doesn't want to piss off the base and he doesn't want to energize government workers against him

Ending wars, ending trade theft, ending runaway budgets, aborting planned parenthood are things Trump ran on and he has done precious little and allowed things to continue as they were way too much

that being said, he is 100% better than the totally fucking insane party that used to be democrats

If furloughed Fed workers don't get paid by the Federal government they will qualify for unemployment benefits. Those benefits will be paid initially by the states and ultimately by private businesses that pay into those state unemployment funds.
