Top 40 has been idiotic since about 1968. The more idiotic that a record was, the worse that it was, the more it sold. Look at Micheal Jackson, the Osmonds, Justin Bieber, disco and everything in between. It got worse as time marched on and sold even more.
That's about the time I stopped listening to it. I joined the Rock Revolution, KSJO. In fact, as I had stopped listening to KYA, which was the major Top 40 station in the SF Bay Area, I had no idea that Johnny Holliday had moved to Washington.

blacks own all major record industries in USA since michael jackson's MTV days - when MTV went to crap (perhaps not a few country labels)
white rockstars suddenly dissappeared and record stores began closing

white artists were only allowed to do rap or told to go home (ie, justin beiber era - whites that rap). MTV (played 60-80's rock star music videos that contained %0 rap) ceased to exist: it went mostly black music as if it were from one of the 90's "black only" channels and then mostly rap soon after.
news stories were released a decade later - some white artists claimed the blacks took over the industry and put a choke hold on anything but rap recordings
(white artists are all on the internet anyway right? not record store CDs?)
