I just drove back to Fairfax from Arizona with a few side trips along the way. Was doing the one or two star motel thing all the way the way.
Days inn, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Travelodge and a couple Sleep inns.
Discusting motel items found during this trip:
1, unflushed poop waiting for me in toilet
2, Used bar of soap from previous renter left in shower.
3, Half eaten Subway sub and a can of four loco left in minifridge.
4, crusty crusty buttons on TV remote.
5, A/C unit leaking water onto carpet and stinking of mold.
6, And the most discusting yet was the used condom stuck inside the phone book that I found while looking up "pizza".(thanks hojo)

25 years ago when I moved to the Fairfax area, we were watching our money so we could put a down payment on an apartment. We had to stay in hotels / motels for about a week until we could get into an apartment. One night, we selected the Anchorage Motel, just west of Fairfax Circle. We walked in the room and saw the dark paneling - full of cob webs and the comforter on the bed that appeared as if it had too many porno shoots in that room.
We quickly locked the door, headed back to the office and turned over the key, retrieved our cash and headed to another place. Yuck!
I can only imagine that place 25 years later. I wonder if they ever renovated those rooms before the crack addicts and prostitutes took over?

A few years back, buddies threw a Bachelor Party for me, well to make a long story short, they hired these two strippers, I mean these girls were gorgeous, both of them. One was a redhead, stood about 5'4" natural tits, fantastic body, I mean high class sirloin. Homestyle Inn, Manassas--had to stay there between apartments because it was cheap and they had weekly rates.
The entire room appeared to be covered in blood and cum stains. The chair had a large bloodstain on it, and the mattress had a bigger one running down the side. Needless to say, we left the room promptly afterward, got a refund, and stayed in our car instead.
Two years later, a man staying there got into a shoot out with the police, and killed himself in a room there. I'm sure he's not the first person to die there.

A guy I know was running a whore house out of the homestyle for awhile.
the house was run by hand cause he had no whores.

There was a hotel in Alexandria that had one of those bed frames so you couldnt see under the mattress unless you lifted it up, the sides were enclosed. Some guy killed a hooker and put her body under the bed. It was rented out for over a week before a tenant complained about the smell.
Imagine the people sleeping in the bed and right under them was the dead body.

I was 18, it was 1978 and had to stay in this motel for one night -- can't remember the name of it -- in Alexandria, off Rt. 1 across from Quander Road -- 7-11 right across the street from it (the outskirts of Jefferson Manor). Anyhoo ... it was a nasty lil' hellhole, but all I could afford at the time. The next morning before check out, I was taking a shower, washing my hair. Next thing I know, something hit me in the face. I jumped back and screamed, jumpin' around with the willies after I saw around the edge of the shower nozzles edge, 2 roaches. The one that had hit my face was now on it's way down the drain. Still grosses me out! I got the hell outta there and have never been back around there since.

went with a group of people to portland maine, in 02 or 03, same time the shuttle broke up on reentry, to watch the AHL allstar game.
stayed in a super 8, i think, up there. we had two rooms, and the one my group was staying in was missing only one thing, the chalk/tape outline of where the body was.
looked like a drug deal had gone bad in it, empty and half empty 40s all over the place, roaches everywhere, beds and chairs all jacked up and strewn about, trash all over the floor. we LOLd....
went to the manager and said, uhhh, are the police finished their investigation in our room? i dont think they are based on it's condition.

Worked at the Springfield Howard Johnsons motor lodge circa 1982. I was a laundry boy and groundskeeper a couple of summers during high school.
One day a maid screams and someone calls 911. Room 109 had an illegal abortion performed in it and the fetus was found in the dumpster. We tried to clean that room for days and finally just flipped the blood soaked mattress over and shampooed the carpet but the suds in the carpet cleaning solution kept turning pink from the blood. I would cringe every time I saw someone check into that room. It was NASTY!

I went to a conference once that was held at a condo resort. One of the gals I went with kept complaining about the lumpy pillow she had. She finally had enough one night and pulled open the case to figure out what was causing the lumpiness. It was a family of dead mice.

Actually found a pic of the old hojo in springfield. Those were the days!

Actually found a pic of the old hojo in springfield. Those were the days!

Back in 2000 we stayed at the Heritage Inn Rt.1 Fredericksburg while our home was being finished.It looked seedy,but it was cheap and we needed to save money .. In the end it was misery we ALL got head lice including my youngest daughter who was 7 weeks old ay the time

These were all on biz travel, and staying at Hiltons,Westin,etc
Got a room right next door to where they were filming porno

Been evicted out of my room in the middle of the night, by a Big Bubba Sheriff...think Duke of Hazzards, all because the night clerk was threatened by all 110lbs of me..I caught him sleeping on the job, and told him I would be reporting his fat butt, because I was locked out of the hotel for hours. He called the cops on me...I was not able to find another vacancy in a hotel within 20mile radius at 3am, and slept in the car

Friend was dating this girl who had family living/staying in these old run down motels which I am sure looked pretty cool back in the day before they became transient homes. There was one off of Rt. 1 right as you crossed into Stafford. Tried looking for it on Google Maps but I am sure the place either burnt or was torn down. Paint was peeling off the outside, abandoned cars outside, the smell of crack lingering around the room, wall paper peeling off the room, place smelled like piss, didn't look but would not at all be surprised if a hooker or hung around the place (didn't really stay to watch). Second place is still standing off of Rt. 29 right before you hit the parkway. People staying there were either wanted by the police or ex cons. Tv's in the room were 20 inch at best, roaches all over the place, shag carpeting baby, heroin needle next to the toilet the day they rented the room. This place did have a hooker flashing her wrinkly small boobs to us guys, I think she was willing to give it up for free after we kept saying no. Although one day we went to visit them some college kids were throwing a party in the room next door and I wished I joined them. To top it off that place was $300 a week back in 2005. Haven't been there since and have absolutely zero plans to do so.

In the late 80s my car broke down in New Baltimore VA on a extremely cold night it was 15 degrees and very windy. The car broke down in the town n country resturaunt parking lot. The Virginia inn was right next door to the T&C back then. Went to the front desk where a Indian woman rented me a room for 16 dollars. She also handed me a space heater and told me I must leave the water running all night to prevent the pipes from freezing.
Inside my room I could hear the TV in the next room as clearly as I could hear mine, when I opened the medicine cabnet there were two joints inside but I was afraid to smoke them for fear they were laced with something bad like maybe PCP. I huddled next to my space heater that kept the room about 55 degrees untill the next morning when I walked to the one payphone they had and called for help. Worst night ever but at least I didnt freeze to death.

Not so much disgusting as strange. Checked into the Excaliber hotel in Vegas. Ok not the most expensive on the strip but I like it.
About fifteen minutes after entering the room someone knocks on the door. An old geezer tells us he forgot his teeth.

Hey give me a break, it was maybe thirteen years ago. It was during some construction company convention and I was lucky to get that room. I prefer to stay at Mirage.
I hate to tell you but about twenty years ago or longer I stayed at Vegas World. They were offering a package deal and just about everything was comped. It was some hardcore gamblers in there.

I worked at the hunter motel circa 1983. Three Mexican guys rented a room and the next morning a housekeeper found the entire room smeared with vasiline and poop! Big surprise- their credit card was stolen.

Was at the oceanfront econolodge at Va beach a couple years back. Our room was on the first floor and shit started flowing up out of the shower drain at 2am. The manager would not refund my money untill I called 411 and asked for the number of the local health inspector and building code enforcement office.

All I'll say is the Econolodge in Hoboken, NJ-flip flops were required for not only the shower but the whole room, the bulletproof glass where the desk man was at was a welcoming touch, and the cockroaches the biggest I've ever seen.
Then again, the bars on the window were a sign, that better digs were available, but when you are young and broke, its a way to see NYC.

One time i takes my girl to the marriot on fouth of july weekend. We opens the door to the room an it looks like someone jus got done fuckin on the bed. Ther was a huge jizz stain rite in da middle of the bed and an empty tube of astroglide on the table. I went to see the manager an he gives us a new room for two nights free. That was some nasty ass shit.

Well, it looks like there were some fireworks "shooting off" in that room before the Fourth.

i was in a local motel they hired fucking illegals to clean who just fake the job - some i bet it is their "second job" and they aren't even there for it, due to some "arrangements"

Definitely the Anchorage in fairfax. The fun was separated from the tile so all the water ran behind the wall and under the tub. I didn't notice this until I took a shower and everytime I stepped in the tub a nasty moldy far smelling stench would come through the hole. Fucking worst experience ever but I was fucked up the night before so I stayed at the shithole after a bender at Skidoos.

Long road trip from East Coast to Dallas. Had most overnights planned out but one night we had no reservation due to slight course change. Ended up finding a place that looked alarmingly like the Bates Motel from Psycho. Place was clean and cheap. So we go in the room and turn on the lights. I flop on the bed because I'm beat from driving in the blazing hot Texas sun. I look over and there is a huge hole in the cinderblock back wall of the room. A perfect rectangle. Turns out it was where the A/C HAD BEEN until somebody stole it it!
