my portfolio was down over 100K in late 2008, but regained itself while Obama was in office. and it’s done well since 2017 too. hard to say how much either president really affected the markets, but i will say my trust in Trump is a big goose egg and i think his tariff nonsense, deregulation, and deficit increase will fuck stuff up. He doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing and it’s worrisome.

Everyone is doing better with president Trump's economy, especially lower income Americans. Instead of creating a larger gap between the rich and poor as Obama did, the Trumpconomy has enabled lower income people to move forward, keep more of their money and lesson the gap as it should be in America.

Well said. So far my portfolio's thrive under democratic presidents. My new strategy is to invest in the US economy under democratic presidents and withdraw from the markets in the second year of any Republican president. The third year is when all the shit in economy hits the fan for Republican presidents.

However during the first two years of the Obama administration I did much better financially than during the first two years of Trump, so by that standard I was better off under Obama. OTOH those gains during the first two years of the Obama administration simply allowed me to recoup my losses under the last year of the Bush administration.

My taxes are going up under Trump's tax laws. Thanks to Bush's tax laws most of my income was already tax favored. The increased standard deduction and lower rate on regular income under Trump's laws doesn't make up for the personal exemption, state and local taxes and misc. itemized deductions I am losing out on. So yes I would check that box, as would many others.
