Yesterday a family comes into a local restaurant with their own paper straws.

Their straws are wrapped in see thru plastic.

Look over and the restaurant straws are plastic, but wrapped in paper.

That was a WTF moment. Had to laugh.

Straw purchases are already against the law in Virginia.

Grocery stores in Virginia still sell boxes of straws.

I bought a bag of dishwasher safe straws and just reuse them.

Keep a box of straws with you in your car. Next time you or a relative or a friend are in the hospital, bring that box of straws in and start handing them out on the floor you are on ...

This is the same idea as paying money for a plastic bag at the store in MD or DC.

For about 12 years now, I have been carrying around an aluminum drinking straw. I typically drink 5-7 beverages a week which require use of a straw.

I drive a car that burns fossil fuels and occasionally I will burn a fire in my fire place. Humans will never have zero impact on the earth. Maybe you prefer a plastic straw but drive a Tesla and don't have a fireplace.

If we can all try to so small things to reduce our impact, we can all work to make a difference.
