I pay for my medicare and social security by working for 40 - 45 years and paying almost 8% of my paycheck. And my employer is also paying almost 8% of my paycheck every pay period for every check that I have ever gotten or will ever get. I don't have the right to opt out of paying for it so the government doesn't have the option of not give it to me once I'm eligible.
