It has happened again. A mass killing at the hands of a person armed with a vehicle. At least 10 dead in Toronto.
Yet, the bloodthirsty ghouls at the American Automobile Association stubbornly oppose common sense vehicle reform. Specifically, AAA oppose background checks and three day waiting periods before people can buy or rent vehicles. They oppose a ban on assault vehicles such as panel vans, SUVs, pick-up trucks, and other assault vehicles. And don't even get me started about the car show loophole.
No one needs an assault vehicle. Everyone should drive only Smart cars, mini-Coopers, and similar small vehicles.
No US citizen has a Constitutional right to own or drive an assault vehicle. Now, I know this latest attack was inflicted on our Canadian allies, but, in terms of the US, our founding fathers could never have imagined the speed, power, and size of modern assault vehicles. Therefore, it is time that the US Supreme Court revisit its decision that the Constitution gives Americans the right to travel.
Clearly, that right of travel should not include assault vehicles. Indeed, the only right of travel that the Constitution requires is the right to travel like they did when the Constitution was adopted: i.e., travel by walking, horse riding or riding horse-drawn coaches.Even bicycles did not exist at the time the Constitution was written and approved, so no one has a Constitutional right to own or ride a bike.
We need to boycott the AAA and their advertisers until they endorse background checks for vehicle buyers and renters. They also must approve outlawing assault vehicles.
I'm calling on all students to walk out of class on May 4 and march in favor of common sense vehicle reform. Plus, it will add a 3 day weekend.
Stop the madness! Common sense vehicle reform now! Save the children!

A common sense approach would be to require that drivers AND FIREARM OWNERS:
- require a government issued license for all owners
- provide a government issued photo id AND birth certificate foe license;
- take required education courses and a written AND practical test;
- have license renewed every several years;
- have medical fitness requirements;
- impose a compliance system where the privilege of driving is removed if there are infractions;
- obtain insurance;
- have annual safety inspections of all equipment;
- allow for spot checks of the operator and equipment with or without cause;
- track each and every sale of equipment and require registration with State and local governments in all cases;
- require manufacturers provide the latest and best possible safety designs
- hold manufacturers legally liable for all defects and design flaws
I agree with the OP lets get on making sure all these provisions are enforced for cars and weapons.

Cars are killing! The control u talk of is crap!
32k to 40k are killed by cars every year.
That’s not acceptable, u know truckers only kill 5k a year and 70% of the 5k are the cars fault but they still get more strict on truckers,
So when cars are responsible for the other 30k fatalities, it means enforcement isn’t doing enough to save any of those 30k killed every year.

ok ban autos I dont care - Im a liberal and favor mass transit anyway. Make it all rail and boat. Lets be honest it would improve life. Also we need to ban tobacco and alcohol too. Finally, yes no firearms except for police. I could live with all that. Good idea fren.

Man I would love it if they ban autos, firearms, tobacco and booze. I dont drink, hunt - I dont even eat meat. Also Im an avid cyclist - can you imagine how great cycling would be with the roads all to ourselves! My god Id be in great shape as I would bike everywhere. We could lay rail along all the major interstates and trollies for local travel. I think the poster mentioned how safe commercial trucks are so leave them for transport of goods and busses for mass transit.
Seriously no firearms no cars - be honest it would be fantastic! It would build local economies too.

The thing with being a serious bike rider though...I would get tired of wearing the costume and sucking each others cocks all day.

I have an extremely friendly dog, but he doesn’t like people with hoodies, and this one time I ran into these 2 serious Jamaican cyclists with all the gear my dog wanted to kill them.

We need common sense auto reform now! Universal backgrounds checks for auto ownership are a no-brainer.
