Let's assume Conway and Arpaio are adults and can make basic cognitive decisions.
Conway and Arpaio wanted to be on CNN. They wanted to get their message out. They wanted to appeal to the masses. They wanted to turn the tide.
Conway and Arpaio made a conscious decision to go on CNN, traveled to the studio by plane and limo, signed release paperwork, put make-up on, went through a pre-interview screening, spent time reviewing their talking points in their dressing room coached by their aides, got mich'd up, did sound checks, and were very, very eager to participate in their CNN 'interview'.
But they were so stupid and awful in the interviews that the videos and transcripts of their stupidity went viral, not just in the US, but around the world.
Is that CNN's fault? Is a piss poor and embarrassing performance CNN's fault?
Does being an asshole in real life and on TV make it 'Fake News'?
CNN provided a huge media audience and a platform to get the Conway & Arpaio message out. Conway and Arpaio proceeded to completely shit the bed in front of tens of millions of viewers.
Professionals come prepared, with a message, and get it across decisively.
Hacks like Conway and Arpaio get their asses handed to them and suffer the consequences because they and their message are stupid.
