I think I'm entitled to that at the very least if I am promised a 80 mb/s internet connection and may not be receiving that to certain sites.

then you can decide whether you want to do business with them or not. maybe their competitors will give you a better deal. if they want your business, make them earn it.

And how will they price what they charge internet websites? Lets say Verizon decides to charge Google.com 1 billion dollars a year to connect to its customers whatsoever. If Verizon decides that Google.com must pay it 1 billion dollars a year for nothing but the fact that they have the power to close a connection already paid for by the consumer. And they decide if Google.com does not pay up they will redirect their customers to bing.com. So now all the revenue from start ups and innovative internet services and content providers will be held hostage to whatever the big ISP companies decide they have to pay to stay in business.

ISP's are getting fucked because everybody is providing content now. You pay for what you watch rather than a bundle of channels big cable provide for you. Cable companies are fucked and have to compete with the likes of sling and amazon and others now. The only way they can continue to profit without reducing their prices and evolving is if they increase the costs of those competitors and secure their profits. It's about them continuing to charge you how much they do and not having to compete with internet based alternatives for your content delivery.

They shouldn't have the right to pick winners and losers on the internet based on who pays them. It's destroying markets and innovation as we speak. It's decreasing competition and sustaining exorbitant pricing and only increasing their profits for the same data.

Now, Amazon is not going to come out with that innovative fire TV that doubles as a cable box in which you can decide what channels you want to watch for a dollar each a month. Because Verizon will come around and milk them out of the market and charge you whatever the fuck they want for shit you don't watch.
