There have been like 5 cases of voter fraud proven in the history of elections.

It is just a way for the GOP to try to move voting districts around to better suit them. 2 HOURS after the voting bill passed, Texas was already attempting to put back in place racially segregated voting districts and limit variability to minorities.

OK, let's just say there have been only 5 cases of proven voter fraud. I then will present you with two questions:

1) Why is there so much resistance applied when the voter roles need to be cleaned up? If there isn't any voter fraud, then people shouldn't have any issues with the files being cleaned up to remove people are dead and should no longer be on such files.

2) When a state is paying for and providing all residents with a photo ID so that they can provide it at the time of voting, why are some politicians so against this process? Why do people have to indicate that asking for such identification is racist? Why?

It's funny how often these 'clean up' efforts, usually initiated by Republicans, result in the de-registration of living, legally eligible Democratic voters.

Because even state-provided IDs are not 'free'. Time off from work must be taken to obtain an ID, distance travelled, etc. For older, poorer rural voters, there is also the issue of their lacking identifiable information, like birth certificates, which precludes the issuance of a state ID.

Your responses are just more excuses. It's quite likely that our Social Security cards will be replaced with cards that have pictures on them and will turn into some form national identification. Or, something similar will result.

Until that time, all Americans need to have a picture ID. You need a picture ID to buy alcohol, to drive a motor vehicle, to fly on an airplane, etc.

12 states currently require a photo id (state or federal government issued ID) in order to vote. 13 states are in the process of considering such requirements.

Also, the excuse that it takes time to get an ID - so it isn't free. Tough. I've waited in plenty of lines to get the dozen or so photo IDs that I've used in the past few decades. Not once did I feel that it was a waste of my time to get the picture and ID completed.

Question: What Identification Do I Need to Vote in the Canadian Federal Election?


To vote in a Canadian federal election or by-election you need to be able to prove your identity and your place of residence.

Elections Canada requires you to

- show one piece of government identification which shows your photo, name and residential address (e.g. a driver's licence)

or

- show two pieces of identification from an authorized list, with both containing your name, and one your residential address

or

- be vouched for by a voter whose name appears on the voters list in the same polling division who has acceptable pieces of ID. Both of you will have to make a sworn statement.

They're in the process of eliminating the vouching now.
