Does anyone know anything about Geospatial Information Science?

I got good grades in college, albeit I majored in German literature. Shit heads told us "it doesn't matter what degree you get, just get one" at Rutgers. Did 2 years of Peace Corps too, thinking I'd be sitting pretty. Not in this economy, and not with the 2,000,000 other starry eyed snowflakes gunning for the same positions, only mommy and daddy know people. I was thinking of getting a degree in geospatial Information services and trying to land a career in that field. Pay seems good with better job prospects than any with a lit degree. I took Geology and Oceanography and got C's in them, so i figure I sort of have a foundation for a switch in that field. Will a certificate due at least for now if I want to make that switch? do I even have a chance in hell? What are some good programs in this field?

If Meade Skeleton, with all his qualifications, can't get a job that isn't seasonal and requires an animal costume, how do you think you'll get one in GIS making more than minimum wage right out of college?

You will be a broke loser for many many years to come before you die alone surrounded by your only friends, a bunch of cats.

Sorry but someone had to tell you.

larry's oiled butt is meaner than he is funny...
check out learning enough computer science to get a CompTIA Security + certification.
If you can pass that test and enjoy the material, then go for a cyber security career and start learning about FISMA and the other cyber accounting standards.
The most technical GS15's in the government are going to cybersecurity folks.

I prefer building software than being a cyber inspector and they actually annoy the shit out of me in my job...but it is a growing and well payed field
