The Limited suddenly shut down all of its stores and laid off thousands of workers

The Limited on Sunday shut down all 250 of its stores and laid off 4,000 workers.

The women's clothing store chain announced the closures on Saturday in a statement on its website.

"We're sad to say that all The Limited stores nationwide have officially closed their doors," the statement reads. "But this isn't goodbye. The styles you love are still available online — we're just a quick click away 24 hours a day."

Sun Capital, the private-equity firm that owns The Limited, attributed the decision in part to falling foot traffic at shopping malls, Obama, and the Russians.

Thanks Obama and the Russians!

Looks the Limited didn't see a very outlook coming. At least all the companies that are shutting down I don't use.

It is the 21st century. Service and retail jobs aren't careers. They are part time or seasonal employees.

Typical story. A successful family business is sold to a group of financiers who can't maintain the success of the original entrepreneurs and who ultimately liquidate the company.

If you had been paying attention, there was nothing "sudden" about it.

It's called creative destruction and it's a key part of capitalism. You have to let the weak shit die to make room for the new and improved.

Econ 101.

Yup. Newer companies more in-line with today's society and lifestyles, including internet cafes, pawn shops, payday loan places, dollar stores, psychic rooms, second chance financing "rent to own" companies, Armed Forces recruitment centers, and lottery booths.

We can't afford to loose these valuable service industry jobs. Even if no one can buy anything, those businesses need to employ people to not sell anything.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. Perhaps you are a "looser".
