1-2" on a Saturday and mayhem ensues? This area is just a joke.

My friend in Lively VA (Northern Neck near Warsaw) is reporting 10" of snow and high winds blowing snow into drifts!

The snow is much heavier further south. Georgia, Carolinas, Central VA are getting pummeled!

What hurts is these southern dumbass drivers, some have no conception on how to drive smart, in treacherous conditions. Nothing worse then a southerner, no ability to drive strategically and defensively. They fuck it up for all humanity. You can easily distinguish us folks who moved here from the north and hayseed southerners

My ex was from Minnesota and she though she knew everything about driving in snow.
Guess what? She didn't and during her first winter here she slid off the road and into a ditch. Dumbass hick northerners.

Congratulations. The other 364 days of the year involve you fucking over the economy and every other aspect of our existence. But that's great you can drive in the snow.

One bad driver does not create a group. However, in NOVA and DC and MD there ARE more bad drivers per square mile than anywhere else in the US. You got Pakis, Africans, West Indians, Dot Heads, China Men, Viet Congs, Hindus, ISIS, Sikhs, Camel Jockeys and many others all trying to navigate in shit they have no clue about.

My dad was born and raised in extreme Northern Minnesota and they usually never saw the pavement between between October and April. He always laughed when this area would go into panic mode and people would be calling for the National Guard for an inch or two of snow! Gave hims good chuckles.

It's not American southerners who moved here that create the problems. It's people who moved here from places where they didn't even drive automobiles. For some of these people the last thing they drove was a camel or a herd of sheep/goats. Even in many countries with cars men do all the driving and women are just passengers. They come here and it's their first experience behind the wheel.

Yeah well Trump is going to put a stop to that BS. Lock the fucking gates buddy!

I actually knew a kid in college and the only thing he had driven before he came here was an Ox Cart.

She probably is familiar with people treating the roads in a correct and timely fashion. Around here, they put down salt for low temps and put down sand early so it can blow into the gutter where it can do the most good.

In NOVA they have to budget for every grain of sand that is dispensed. Im surprised they haven't found a method to sweep it all up after a storm and recycle it. Or have they?

What hurts are the lousy plow drivers, one guy plows the snow in one direction, the guy behind him has his plow set for the other direction, they spend most of the time taking breaks at the coffee shops and the state is paying these freeloaders big bucks. They tear up the roads and cost the state mucho deniro for repairs come spring. Not to mention cars breaking axels and tires because of these incompetent nincompoops. I saw one giant plow truck being operated by two Cambodians who had the plow set high and saw just skimming thhe surface of snow.

No shit. I saw a black guy driving a plow truck with a heavy gauge peace of stuck wire sticking out about 4 ft from the plow itself. He was going down the streets scratching the shit out of parked cars.

Only northerners should be allowed to drive in Virginia.

I've driven in Minnesota during the winter and didn't have a problem because the snow on the roads was frozen solid. No partially thaw/refreeze like we have here.
Their DoT also has plenty of equipment to deal with it because they have so much more snow on the long term.

I'm flying in to National in about 45 min. How are the roads now? Still blocked by abandoned cars?
