If a Cubs-Indians World Series went:

Game 1: Cubs 2 Indians 1 W Cubs
Game 2: Cubs 4 Indians 3 W Cubs
Game 3: Cubs 1 Indians 12 W Indians
Game 4: Cubs 4 Indians 2 W Cubs
Game 5: Cubs 3 Indians 4 W Indians
Game 6: Cubs 7 Indians 9 W Indians
Game 7: Cubs 5 Indians 2 W Cubs

Who won the World Series?

Yes, but the Indians, I mean Indigenous First Peoples, had more runs. It's not fair. The World Series needs to change. Do you hear me Bud Selig?

I was speaking with my school age daughter last evening about the election and she was aware of how the electoral college worked. It is actually still taught in the schools. Yes, even FCPS.

The Electoral College is a way to prevent high population areas from gaining control over the rest of the Country.

In other words, if California, New York and Florida hypothetically have 30% of the population, they would be able to vote in Presidents that cater to their needs and the other 75% of the Country would not have a very strong presence.

Same reason each State only has 2 Senators regardless of the size and population of the State.

Excellent answer. James Madison initially wanted to elect by popular vote, but Alexander Hamilton was against this for the very reasons you state here. His answer to avoiding mob rule was to have the electoral college which mirrored the house of representatives when he injected this into to constitution in the the twelth amendment. He just didn't trust the populous to elect their leaders directly. During the constitutional convention, it was laid out with the electoral college as the means in selecting the winners in the presidential elections. Up until John Quincy Adams, the citizens only voted for the house representative, and they in turn voted for the president and vice president. Andrew Jackson tied in 1825, but Adams had connections in the house and was elected by the electoral college and the house of representatives. An angry Jackson came back 4 years later and won 2 terms, and the Whig party, who Adams represented ceased to exist. So dissatisfaction with loosing an election is nothing new here. And yet, we press on.
