I think New York is really a very homely city, if you must ask me.
Because you see its just a lot of buildings that are way too tall, and its dirty. The brownstones are considered attractive? To me they are just ugly. Also its so expensive. My Aunt moved to New York from Kentucky and she lived in an apartment the size of a closet and was paying 900$ a month (this was back in 1992!)
I just can't understand how anyone could live there. Because folks are living on top of each other like a sardine can.
I do respect the New Yorkers- and please don't think I don't have a heart. The September 11th attack was a terrible tragedy and I really admire and respect those firemen that gave their lives and the people that died there.
But really- I just can't understand the appeal of New York.
York just doesn't do it for me. It really isn't very attractive.
I think depressing is the first word that comes to mind when I think of New York.
New York is hardly that great. The only claim to fame was Broadway- and even that is corny and old hat. Nobody goes to see shows there anymore. For music Nashville and L.A. are where its at.
Also, New York is so crowded and hard to get around in. I would never drive in that city. You just can't. Its like a maze. And everyone is always shouting about something. Its very over priced and the people are rude.
I don't know why Frank Sinatra sang about it all the time.
I have nothing against New Yorkers, and I have met some very nice ones. But the city itself lacks visual and cultural appeal.
New York City doesn't even have a Country Music station.
Need I say more?
